The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Wood shortlisted for European award

Derventio swimmer Abbie Wood has been nominated for a European award after winning two golds and two silvers at the 2013 European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht.

The 14-year old was the star of the British team in the Netherlands, carrying the GB flag at the closing ceremony after her medal haul, which included golds over 400m Individual Medley and 200m Breaststroke.

Wood has been named on the five-person shortlist for the European Olympic Committee’s Piotr Nurowski Best Young European Athlete Prize.

The vote for the winner will take place at the EOC General Assembly in Rome on 22 November.
