Development Squad

The North West Diving Development Squad was introduced in 2011, to give the higher-level divers in the region access to elite facilities and coaching.

Divers are given access to Manchester Aquatics Centre once a month; this gives them access to the 10 metre diving board and the bubble machine. The squad is coached by the elected development coach, Richard Ward. Richard is fully level 2 qualified and one of 12 coaches in the country working towards his Level 3 diving qualification.

The squad is open to divers who are currently competing at Age Group level or higher, special circumstances will be made for divers working towards Age Group level who show potential. Members who belong to the squad, will still belong and compete for their own club, the squad is simply a way to help divers in the region get the same opportunities that divers from the bigger clubs get.

Any diver wishing to join the squad has to fill in an application form, all applications will be considered and divers will be selected based on their level of diving, competition experience and attitude. The development squad is based on a safe, positive environment where all divers work together and encourage one and other.

Application forms are available from the Diving Manager, Ellie Ward – elliewarddiving@hotmail.co.uk. All applications are considered by the Diving Management Board.
