The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

A number of changes have been made to the structure of the 2012 British Gas ASA National Youth Championships and the British Gas ASA National Age Group Championships. 

National Age Group Championships:
• 14 year old Girls will now compete in the National Age Group Championships.
• Age groups for the National Age Group Championships will be 11/12, 13 and 14 years for both Boys and Girls.
• Ages for Teams will be 10 to 14 for both Boys and Girls.
• 40 teams will be invited to compete in each team event.
• Semi-Finals will be introduced for some of the events involving the 14 year old age group.

In the light of these changes the ASANWR Swimming Management Group have decided that the following alterations will be made to the Regional competitions:

Regional Age Group Championships:
• 14 year old Girls will now compete in the Age Group Championships.
• Age groups will be 12 years and under, 13 years and 14 years for both Boys and Girls.
• Ages for Teams will be 10-14 for both Boys and Girls.
• Medal winners will be asked to collect their awards. The only presentations to individual swimmers will be to Bagcat winners.
• Qualifying Times and Entry Conditions will be revised to take account of these changes. These will be published as soon as possible.
