In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Disability Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Greater Manchester Coaching Legacy Fund for Talented Athletes

The fund has been developed in partnership with GMPA and Ask Goodman to support talented athletes in Greater Manchester to access high quality coaching to enable them to fulfill their potential.

The GMPA Coaching Legacy Fund is available to fund coaching fees incurred by talented young athletes to access elite coaching. Elite coaching is defined as a coach qualified as a level 3 and above or recognised by the sports national governing body as coaching at an elite level. A maximum of £200 is available per applicant per year to enable talented young people aged 25 or under to pay for elite coaching.

The fund will be run over three rounds this year and quarterly for the next two years. Deadlines and panel dates for this year’s applications are below:

Round 1
Deadline for applications: Fri 2nd September 2011

Panel Meeting: Tues 13th September 2011

Round 2
Deadline for applications: Fri 9th December 2011
Panel Meeting: Wed 21st December 2011

Round 3

Deadline for applications: Fri 9th March 2012
Panel Meeting: Mon 19th March 2012
