Leigh St Mary’s Under 18’s Girl’s Water Polo team retain English School’s Water Polo Trophy for the 3rd year running at Oundle School , Oundle, Peterborough - Manchester High School for Girl’s were runner’s up

Crompton House , Oldham Under 16’s Girl’s Water Polo team won their event

Leigh St Mary’s finished 2nd in the Under 14’s competition

Leigh St Mary’s Under 14’s Girls Water Polo team finished with silver medals in the national competition

Manchester High school for girl’s finished 3rd.

In the Under 14's competition  St Mary's lost their first game against Alleyn's School ,London 3.1

In the second game, the girls up there game and beat Bedford Girl's School Bedford 6 goals to 1.

In the final game against Manchester High School for Girl's , St Mary's had to win or draw to finish second in the competition.

At half time St Mary's were winning 3 goals to 2 , Manchester scored 2 quick goals in the second half to take the lead 4 goals to 3.

With a minute left Steph Whittaker scored the equalising goal to ensure St mary's finished 2nd in the English School finals and Manchester finished 3rd

Manchester High Under 14's beat Bedford 5 goal to 1 but lost to Alleyn's by 6 goal's to 1.


In the Under 16's competition  Crompton beat Alleyn's 2 goals to 1,  Bedford  14 goals to 1 and King's High School 2 goals to 1 .

In the Under 18's competition

Leigh St Mary's Under 18's took there strongest team to Oundle in a  bid to win the trophy for the 3rd successive year.

In the starting seven St mary's had  5 GB Water Polo Players  Grace Morley , Honor Grimes GB Ladies Senior Squad, Grace Rowland , Bethan Grimes, GB under 17's squad and

Stephanie Whittaker GB under 14's squad.

In the first game St Mary's beat Alleyn's School , London they won 10 goals to 2

In the second game St Mary's beat King's High School , Warwick  16 goal's to 1

In the final game against old rivals Manchester High School for Girls , St Mary's dominated the game winning 7 goal's to 1.

In the 3 games St Mary's scored 33 goal's and conceded only 4.

Manchester High School for Girl's finished second , having lost to St Mary's they had wins against King's High 12 goals to 2 and Alleyn's 9 goals to 1


St Mary's are supported by Tyldesley Swimming and Water Polo and the Pelican Centre , Tyldesley .
