North West Ready to do it again!

Six players who have just come back from representing Great Britain in the junior boys qualification round; Sam Routledge, Andrew Robinson, Tom Grieve, James Salt, Lewis Daly, Adam Toone and Dylan Green, have all been picked to represent North West in the Youth Boys Inter Region Championships at Basildon over the weekend 25th and 26th May.

The North West boys’ team are well known for being successful in the Inter Regions and Coach Zak Sly thinks this year will be no different. "Seven of the tiger’s team have just returned from the Junior Boys qualification tournament were they represent Great Britain and are at the peak of their fitness. They won this competition two years ago and have moved on a lot since then and I am confident that this year they can run away with the competition once again!”

North West always enters two teams(Tigers & Ravens) into the Inter Regions and this year is no different. The Ravens team generally is younger then the Tigersteam. Gary Ellwood said “The Ravens team have some good experience between them and this year we could get promoted into division one, with our Ravens team there supporting them all the way”

This is the last Inter Region competition for the born 1996 team but it does not stop there for them. Early July, the Tigers team will be flying out to Rotterdam were they will play a tournament over the weekend and hopefully bring back the trophy!

Team Manager Colin Walsh is looking forward to the international trip and agrees with Coach Zak that these lads need to be pushed. "The born 1996 team is a very strong North West team and we need to push them further and to do this we needed to go aboard and take on some different competition at a higher standard"

We wish the lads all the best in the Inter Regions and also when they fly out to Rotterdam later this year!
