Speedo once again sponsored the annual House of Lords versus House of Commons swimming contest at London’s Porchester swimming baths.

The event was in aid of the Hope for Youth charity, which provides funding for cross community projects for young people in Northern Ireland.

Celebrating its 25th year, the charity occasion was attended by more than 400 guests including top British and Irish celebrities from the stage, the screen and the world of sport.

Ex-world champion boxer and television personality Barry McGuigan started the races with former champion jockey Kieren Fallon and after the action in the pool, guests and competitors enjoyed a black tie fundraising dinner in the magnificent surroundings of the Porchester Hall.

As in past encounters the honours were fiercely contested between the teams of both Houses but once again it was the team form the House of Commons who emerged from the pool victorious.

David Robinson, Speedo Brand President said: “This is the 20th time Speedo have sponsored this prestigious charity event and we are delighted that this year it is also the event’s Silver Jubilee.

"Our brand is all about inspiring people to swim, and through this event we can use swimming to make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people, by helping to raise vital funds for such a worthwhile charity.”
