Simon Rothwell has been involved in swimming since 1970 when he first began swimming competitively and later trained as a swimming instructor and qualified as a technical swimming official.
After completing a university degree in French and German Simon trained as a teacher and took up a position at the Oldershaw School in Wallasey where he currently teaches both French and German.
Simon has officiated at many national and international events in this country and was selected to represent England at the XVI Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998.
He has served on the Executive Committees of the Liverpool & District SWPA, Lancashire County WPSA and Northern Counties ASA in various capacities and in 2000 was elected Honorary Secretary of the Northern Counties ASA District.
Simon served on the Aquatics Committee for the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games at which he was Deputy Competition Manager and Technical Director.
Since 1996 Simon has been a member of the ASA Rules Committee and was selected to represent the ASA as one of the English representatives on the ASFGB British Swimming Management Board where he is concerned with the sport internationally and the issues relating to elite swimming.
