Marketing and Communications
There are a variety of methods available for clubs to communicate their activities and market themselves both externally within their local community and internally amongst their members. It can therefore be difficult to know where to start or what the best methods are.
Here you will find a number of useful resources that can be used to help with developing a club marketing strategy and help your club get the most out of different methods of communication.
ASA's Online Marketing Centre
The ASA's Online Marketing Centre has been developed by the ASA’s Marketing Team to allow your club to access marketing materials in a way that has never before been possible. You can access our range of posters, flyers, banners and more by clicking here.
As part of the swim21 accreditation, clubs are asked to submit a marketing plan. You can access a template marketing plan here. Using this template encourages your club to think about the key areas to include utilising both social media and the club website, distributing a newsletter, advertising within local community and building an email database for your club. If you require any support with becoming swim21 accredited contact your ASA Club Development Officer.
County Sports Partnerships
County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) may be able to provide assistance or resources for marketing your club and most CSPs have some form of 'club finder' facility on their website, which enables clubs to add details about their organisation so that participants visiting the site can find their local club. Sport England Club Leaders Courses
Club Leaders is part of the Olympic Legacy programme, ‘Places People Play’, and provides free training and support to those involved in the day-to-day running of community sport. Sport England Club Leaders Courses offer two online online courses - Evaluating Marketing Options and Developing a Marketing Strategy - alongside a free face-to-face seminar that can be organised by clubs or a group of clubs.
