Andy Banks

December 2011 – Andy Banks, the founder and head coach of Plymouth Diving reveals that he ran away from home to escape his A levels – and why he should have been an investment banker.

Nobody knows this but…

I ran away from home at Harrogate halfway through my A levels at a school near Bradford and went down to London and into the Metropolitan Police for three years. It was a bit like doing national service. I saw and did things that most people don’t get the opportunity to see and do. The reason I went was to escape from my wrong selection of A levels but I am sure it ended up as a good thing in terms of maturation and good experience ahead of the coaching side of things.
