Learning through fun is the key to the Learn to Swim (LTS) programme
The ASA believes fun should be the primary aim of any learn to swim scheme because if the children enjoy their experience they will stick with it. But for those teachers who are not sure how to structure play, the ASA has developed a new LTS Games and Resource Pack. Read on to learn more.
The new resource has been written by the ASA’s Learn to Swim Technical Group with ASA Tutors Shelley Robinson, Carole Webster and Jane Wilson helping to steer the content to ensure it is user friendly.
The pack includes 70 games cards which are aligned to the LTS and the National Curriculum and provide games with a purpose directly linked into relevant stages of the LTS and specific outcomes.
SLM has become the first organisation to purchase the LTS Games and Resource pack. The organization purchased packs for use in each of its 48 sites to help teachers deliver a fundamentals approach to learn to swim and ensure swimmers learn in a fun way.
Ian Cotton, Regional Manager for SLM said: “Children will enjoy their learn to swim experience much more if they are having fun and the LTS Games and resource pack has provided some great ideas for suitable games which can help children learn to swim. The pack is really user friendly and suitable for new teachers and more experienced teachers who need some more ideas to help keep lessons fun and exciting.”
The LTS Games Resource is available to purchase from the ASA Awards Centre and costs £39.99 per pack and can be purchased online by clicking here or by calling 0800 220292.
