She learnt to swim as a child at Billingham and became a Level 1 teacher at the age of 18 and helped teach the younger members of the club to swim. In 2008 Lorraine gained her Level 2 teachers award and continues to teach at the club on a regular basis. .
Lorraine manages to juggle being part of the Masters squad, having a full time job and teaching young people how to swim but is always willing to help out at the club.
She said: “I enjoy teaching children how to swim because when they achieve even the smallest milestone, and you know you were part of them doing so, it gives me a sense of satisfaction.
“The award means recognition for myself and Billingham ASC in the work that we do in teaching and coaching children in swimming.”
