Invicta girls beat northern rivals for national victory

10 April 2012

Invicta’s Academy Girls Team stormed their way to victory in a straight set of wins at the ASA National Age Group Water Polo Championships 2012 which took place at Manchester Aquatics Centre on 24 March.

The South East team started the day with a 15 – 2 victory over home team, City of Manchester with a total of seven girls getting on the score sheet. The team then went on to beat eventual runners up Tydesley 6-4 and third place finishers City of Liverpool 8-2.

Invicta’s, Mhiari Nurthern managed to score in each match racking up an impressive total of 10 points to finish as second highest goal scorer of the competition behind Tyldesley’s Grace Rowlands only who clocked15 sensational goals!

Second place Tydsley also performed well throughout the competition losing only to Invicta. The match between the two top teams was closely fought, finishing a nail biting 6-4 in Invicta’s favour. 

Third place on the day was City of Liverpool while home team City of Manchester finished fourth despite having two of the top five goal scorers in their team.
