A cash injection of nearly £30,000, courtesy of the ASA, will go towards providing a moveable floor in the soon-to-be-opened competition pool at Arc Leisure Matlock.

Derbyshire Dales District Council will open the new leisure centre this summer with state of the art facilities in the £12 million development.

The moveable pool floor will provide flexibility in the main swimming pool which can be adjusted to set different depths to help with swimming lessons and other activities.

“The development of Arc Leisure Matlock is an important addition to the swimming facility stock in Derbyshire,” said the ASA’s Hannah Creelman.

“We are pleased to help fund such a significant regional facility and the inclusion of the moveable floor will increase the flexibility of the pool to ensure the facility meets the needs of the whole community from Learn to Swim programmes through to the aquatic disciplines of swimming, water polo and synchronised swimming.”

Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Leisure Officer Les Warren said: “We are very grateful to the ASA for providing this grant towards Arc Leisure Matlock. The moveable floor will be of great benefit to local people, local clubs and for regional competitions.”
