Sky Sports News ‘Get Involved’ in Synchronised Swimming

17 February 2012

Tomorrow (Saturday 18 February), a ‘Get Involved’ feature on Sky Sports News will take an in-depth look into the world of synchronised swimming, with the help of the Reading Royals Synchronised Swimming Club.

Using underwater cameras the programme will delve into all aspects of the sport – from training to performance – and give viewers the inside track on what it takes to participate in this fun, challenging activity.

Synchronised swimming is an exciting mixture of swimming, dance and gymnastics, which is suited to people of all ages who would like to improve their fitness, flexibility and body tone.

Swimmers perform a synchronised routine of elaborate moves in the water and must demonstrate advanced water skills, great strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, artistry, precise timing and exceptional breath control when upside down underwater. Get Involved is a new series on Sky Sports News for 2012, focusing on a different sport each week with the aim of encouraging people to give it a go.

The synchronised swimming programme will be broadcast on Sky Sport News, channel 405, on Saturday 18 February between 7am and 12noon. If you miss it on air, click here to catch up online.
