The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

Adam Paker announced as new CEO of the ASA

Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Games England (CGE), Adam Paker, is to join the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) as its new CEO following the completion of his duties with Commonwealth Games England.

Paker has led Commonwealth Games England for three years and has agreed to move to the Amateur Swimming Association as its new Chief Executive, following a handover period after the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

We recognise the tremendous impact that he has made to CGE and his passion for increasing participation in swimming was obvious through the rigorous selection process.

"We are sure that he will bring dynamic leadership to the Amateur Swimming Association and look forward to him joining us in the autumn once he has completed his current responsibilities”.

Adam Paker added: “For the next few months my entire focus is on driving Commonwealth Games England forward and delivering a highly successful Commonwealth Games for Team England.

"I am extremely proud to have been given the role of Chief Executive of the Amateur Swimming Association. I want to help the organisation get more people swimming and look forward to making a real impact.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years with Commonwealth Games England during which time, the organisation has transformed into a high-performing, professional outfit.”

Sir Andrew Foster, Chairman of Commonwealth Games England also commented: “Adam Paker has worked tirelessly to lead Commonwealth Games England for three years and has helped transform us into a first-class organisation. Adam has recruited an excellent team and they have transformed our approach by working closely with Sports to deliver the support that athletes need.

Adam Paker is expected to take up his role with the ASA in the autumn"Adam will lead Commonwealth Games England through the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and will remain for a handover period after the event to ensure a smooth transition. We wish Adam every success at the ASA where his knowledge and experience will be a great asset to them.”

Adam Paker is expected to take up his role with the Amateur Swimming Association in the autumn.

Commonwealth Games England will undertake a major review of its Glasgow Commonwealth Games performance in September and October when a decision on Chief Executive recruitment will be made.
