In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Appointment of Independent Members to the ASA Group Board

Appointed by the Nominations Committee, Lisa Wainwright, Nick Humby and Stuart Cain will join the ASA Group Board as Independent Members and will support the new chairman, Edward Lord OBE, on the development of the four year strategic plan to drive participation in swimming.

Lisa Wainwright is currently the Chief Executive of Volleyball England.  Her previous roles include Head of National Sport at Sport England and Membership Services Director at the All England Netball Association.

Nick Humby is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Financial Officer for the Lawn Tennis Association. Nick’s previous roles include Finance Director of Manchester United plc and Thames Television and Freemantle, as well as an extensive portfolio of non-executive directorships across media, sport and the arts.

Stuart Cain is a Senior Executive with extensive experience in marketing, media and commercial affairs across sports and entertainment events and businesses. He is currently the Managing Director: Commercial Marketing with the NEC Group, which includes the Ticket Factory. His previous positions include executive marketing and commercial roles with Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Clubs, and responsibility for brand development at Bass plc.

ASA Group Board Chairman Edward Lord said: “I’m delighted to have Lisa, Nick and Stuart join us at the ASA. They will each bring a considerable wealth of knowledge and experience to the ASA Group Board, and will play a vital role in building on the success of the previous leadership.”

Recruitment continues to fill the fourth position for an Independent Member. The Sport Governing Board are yet to appoint their Sport Specialist members to the ASA Group Board.
