ASA achieves BSI standard for going green
22 Dec 2009
The ASA has become the first governing body for sport to become accredited under the Acorn Scheme, a new Government-approved BSI standard for environmental management systems.
After an inspection the ASA were formally accredited for phase 3 of the Acorn BS8555 standard. The Acorn Scheme is a way for small and medium sized organisations to make themselves greener.
Gemma Ryder, a member of the ASA's Environmental Policy Implementation Team, said:
"We are delighted to have achieved this nationally recognised standard which portrays the organisation's awareness of our environmental impact and demonstrates how we have worked hard to become 'green'. We will be moving to our new headquarters early next year and will continue to improve our performance in our use of energy, paper and waste production".
