COME AND SEE THE ASA AT LEISURE INDUSTRY WEEK 2009
07 Sep 2009
The ASA is pleased to announce its involvement with Leisure Industry Week 2009.
Leisure Industry Week is a major industry show held at the NEC in Birmingham from 22nd-24th September, attracting thousands of leisure professionals, as well as over 350 key industry suppliers. Highlights include a temporary swimming pool with live demonstrations as well as conferences and seminars with high profile industry speakers.
The ASA returns to this annual event to showcase a number of projects, including the new look British Gas Swimfit.
British Gas Swimfit is a free to use online product, developed by the ASA. The website, www.swimfit.com, helps to provide structure to swimmers’ time in the pool by providing sessions appropriate to their level of ability as well as an online logging system to allow them to monitor their progress and work towards goals.
In addition to the website, leisure centres can also purchase poolside units to house the Swimfit session cards making them available to all pool users. These poolside units will be available at Leisure Industry Week and demonstrations of how the Swimfit sessions work will also take place in the pool.
Also taking place in the pool will be demonstrations from local school children on a number of other ASA projects, including; synchronised swimming, the ASA's British Gas National Plan for Teaching Swimming games and the Kellogg’s ASA Rainbow Stroke Awards.
On Tuesday 22nd September the ASA will be supported by Olympic gold medallist Duncan Goodhew, who will be on hand for demonstrations throughout the day.
The ASA will also be showcasing the new National Facilities Policy in seminars on 22nd September, a must for all those involved in planning, building or managing swimming pools.
Presented by Kelvin Juba, the seminar will provide clear and concise guidance to those involved with swimming facilities whether in the planning and design stages, construction or in the day-to-day management. Kelvin has had a lifelong involvement with swimming being an author of many books on the subject, a swimming coach and TV commentator on the sport.
This will be followed by a presentation from British Gas on Energry360 and energy conservation in pools.
Both seminars take place in Hospitality Room 27 on Tuesday 22nd September. Beginning at 10am and repeated at 1pm.
The ASA and British Gas would like to invite you to a champagne reception following the conclusion of the above presentations. The reception will begin at 3pm in Hospitality Room 27 and you are welcome to come along and raise any questions you may have with experts in these areas.
