Gordon will take over the role from the successor to current President John Russell and will be ably supported by his wife Linda Gordon, fellow leading volunteer and President of Northumberland & Durham Swimming Association.

ASA Chairman John Crowther said:

“I am delighted to be able to announce in advance that Ray is going to be the ASA President at the time of the London Olympics.  It is going to be such an important year for swimming and I am sure that having such a dedicated and knowledgeable President to represent us will be of great benefit.  Ray gives up all of his free time to officiate in competitions and assist in the development of the sport at local, regional and national levels”.
