Sellwood appointed as Head of England Infrastructure and Support

14th May 2012

Following on from the announcement on 2nd April to join up England Talent and the World Class programme, the ASA has appointed Nick Sellwood to the position of Head of England Infrastructure and Support where he will adopt a strategic role in driving forward the England Talent Programme.

Nick has been ASA Head of Talent Development for more than five years and will lead the strategic development of infrastructure to support the England Talent Pool and Aquatic Network Initiatives, improving pathways, structures and systems.

The role will set targets and support the attainment of World Class and ASA objectives, as agreed with British Swimming Director of World Class Operations, Ian Mason.

A key focus of the role is to work closely with World Class to implement joint strategic initiatives (including the Beacon Programme) and ensure co-ordination between ASA Programmes and World Class, as well as manage relationships with ASA regions, stakeholders and colleagues to ensure effective delivery of ASA/World Class objectives.

The role will also be required to monitor and evaluate the delivery of ASA targets at a national and regional level and ensure appropriate data is collected and reported to the ASA Board and external stakeholders including Sport England.

Nick will also lead on the strategic direction of Swim 21 and promotion of IoS apprenticeships and Workforce Development opportunities with partner agencies.

Members of staff who currently report to Nick will continue to do so during this transitional period.

We are now in a position to look at the detail of the various operational aspects of the integration of Talent into World Class. As part of this process we will be in touch with all those affected both as a whole and also in specific disciplines and groups.

At this stage we are unable to confirm the exact timings for this process but will be communicating this information as soon as it is finalised.
