19 swimmers are the first to attain the exclusive Complete Swimmer Award

25 September 2013

GB Olympic diver Nick Robinson-Baker presented the swimmers with their medals at The Stadium Fitness Complex in Huddersfield.

The ASA, in partnership with Kirklees Active Leisure hosted the awards presentation and local Councillor Jim Dodds was also present to recognise this fantastic achievement in front of peers and members of the local community.

The awards presentation was followed by a pool party with aquatic fun and games and demonstrations from Nick Robinson-Baker.

Nick said, “Swimming is not only one of the safest and most popular forms of exercise, it’s a life skill and it is vital that young people learn to swim for their own safety. Plus once you can swim, there is a whole host of water-based activities such as diving, water polo and synchronised swimming available. Now, as well as being rewarded with badges and certificates, swimmers can become medal winners too, this is a great way to keep young learners motivated while improving their swimming ability and helping them enjoying aquatic sport.”

The Complete Swimmer Award rewards those who have achieved all 25 awards on the Learn to Swim Framework, as part of the British Gas ASA Learn to Swim Pathway. The Pathway is the national syllabus to assist and support the delivery of swimming lessons from the ASA. Following the Pathway increases the likelihood of lifelong participation in swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.
