Can you work to tight time deadlines? Do you thrive on pressure? Do you want to see your creative ideas inspire athletes and live sports crowds? Then look no further!
We will help you gain knowledge and insight in to what makes aquatic events so exciting to attend and good for athletes to perform at their very best on a national and world stage.
The Sports Presentation Course will be held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield on Saturday 27th July, to coincide with the British Gas ASA National Swimming Championships.
"It's hard work but such a fantastic experience and a great laugh. It's also helped me in my career and led to me having a paid job at the London Olympics" - volunteer and Sports Presentation manager John Bailey.John Bailey has been volunteering within Sports Presentation at our National events for the last four years: "My friend and I were on a filming and editing course, and through this were invited along to the European Water Polo Championships in 2009 to create highlight packages for the half time and full time breaks.
"Since then I have worked my way up through a number of roles and am now Sport Presentation Manager at National and some International Events for British Swimming and the ASA.
“I have covered events such as the British Gas Swimming Championships, FINA Diving World Series and was lucky enough to be offered a paid Sport Presentation job at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“Sports Presentation involves quite a bit of work preparing for the event - branding, creating timelines, working with sponsors and their requirements, building a Sport Presentation team and outlining roles for this team, planning your music, audience participation and interaction games and also creating running orders for the event. Depending on the size of the event, the pre-work differs - the bigger the event, the more work there is!
“During the event, the role involves producing and directing the live in-venue entertainment for the audience and making sure the event runs to time!
“We have an awesome Sport Presentation Team already - it's hard work but such a fantastic experience and a great laugh. It has also helped me in my career - I have worked in paid roles in different sports (Football and Cycling) as well as having a paid job at the London Olympics... this would not have been possible without doing Sport Presentation at British Swimming."
