Be Safe in Open Water

18 July 2013

Wednesday 17 July was the hottest day of 2013, reaching temperatures above 30C and prompting a ‘Level Three’ heat wave warning in many parts of England.

During this ongoing spell of hot weather the ASA would like to remind inexperienced open water swimmers of the potential dangers of swimming outdoors.

Emergency services across the UK are also reiterating the hazards associated with swimming in open water and urging the public to stay safe around lakes, rivers and reservoirs.

With the warm weather set to continue into next week the ASA strongly recommends the following open water guidelines to avoid the dangers and enjoy the weather safely.
