London swimmers rising to the occasion

New figures from the London Youth Games Foundation has found participation of young people in competitive swimming has made a significant rise.
Swimming, diving and water polo are three of the key sports in the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games - Europe's largest annual youth sports event - and all three experienced rises in numbers for 2011 as the event hit an all-time participation record.
Across all three sports, there was a total 38% rise from 3,417 to 4,713 competing in 2011.
London Aquatics - the elite
- London will host the British Gas Swimming Championships (50m) for the first time in March 2012 . The event will be held at the London Aquatics Centre in the Olympic Park.
- Londoner Susie Rodgers starred at the IPC Swimming European Championships in 2011, winning five golds and a silver.
- West London Penguin water polo star Frankie Snell has been one of the key figues in the British Gas GBR Women's Water Polo team's surge up the rankings.
- Olympian Nick Robinson-Baker learned to dive at Crystal Palace and is aiming to qualify for his second Olympics this season.
