Funding available for disabled volunteers

A new ‘Access to Volunteering’ Fund has been set up with the aim of increasing the number of disabled people in volunteer positions.

This pilot scheme is part of a range of new and innovative approaches to grant funding.  Those clubs or organisations that want to increase their number of disabled volunteers, or that have little or no history of working with disabled volunteers but want to develop a new initiative are particularly encouraged to apply.

The fund is particularly interested in the wider outcomes for disabled people including improved health and increased social inclusion.  The awards range from £250 to £5,000, with an average award of £2,000.

This fund is only available in Greater London, West Midlands and the North West of England.  Final deadline for applications is 6 September 2010.  For more information click here.
