New training and resources for swim meet announcers

A new training course and resources are now available for everyone who is considering becoming a swim meet announcer.

The announcer plays a very important role in ensuring competitors, volunteers and spectators have a high quality experience at a swim meet.  Now the ASA are providing new essential resources for everyone considering taking on this role, or for those who are new to the position.

The Good Club Guide for a Swim Meet Announcer is a valuable resource to assist volunteers in fulfilling this role.  It provides:

  • A guide to the roles and responsibilities of the position
  • Templates and resources to assist you and save you time
  • Top tips and good practice from experienced volunteers
  • Further information and learning/training opportunities

The Announcer training resource DVD gives a brilliant insight into the many requirements of the role with hints and tips from experienced announcers.  The duties and key skills of an announcer are included as well as advice on the essential preparation needed before a meet and examples of standard announcements. Find out why an announcer may also need to be a part time DJ, and what to do when not everything goes according to plan!

Click here to visit the Good Club Guide section to download the guide and to view the DVD.

As part of the Good Club Guide, the ASA are also now providing a specialised, free training course for individual volunteers or on behalf of organisations, and will be organised according to demand.  For further details please contact Yvette Heywood at volunteering@swimming.org.
