Video of young disabled volunteers scoops award

21 March 2011

The Young Disabled Volunteers Back Swimming video scooped the mygames Digital Documenters Award at the First Light Awards.

Hosted by BBC Radio One’s Nick Grimshaw it was a fantastic event and recognized the achievement of all young people involved.

The video – produced by another mygames project, Digital Documenteers – was filmed at the South West Regional Disability Swimming Championships in Bristol last month and shows a day in the life of a young volunteer at a disability swimming event.

Marc Brooks, a mygames volunteer in the South West, attended the event held at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square, London.

"It was great to be involved in the day and see a volunteers perspective of a swimming event up on the big screen," said Mark.

"I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to vote."

The film will be shown in cinemas across the country which will give a great boost to the programme and the young people involved.
