The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Find out how to organise a re-assessment

QCF Qualifications

These guidance notes are for all learners who have attended the QCF qualifications (from Jan 2011).

Re-sit assessment dates should be arranged for you by the centre where you took your course.

Step 1: Contact the centre at which you took your UKCC course and agree a re-assessment date and time.

Step 2: Look over your course paperwork and ensure you are fully prepared for the re-assessment.

If you wish to re-sit the assessment at another centre, you must contact your preferred centre to ascertain whether they are willing to provide this service. You should then follow the re-sit process outlined above. A list of centers that are currently running ASA courses can be found by clicking here

NQF Qualifications (pre Jan 2011)

These guidance notes are for non-IoS learners who have attended the old NQF qualifications (pre Jan 2011). If you are an IoS learner please click here.

Re- assessment dates should be arranged for you by the centre where you took your course.

Step 1: Contact the centre at which you took your UKCC course and agree a re-assessment date and time.

Step 2: Complete the re-assessment form making sure you include the details of the person you have spoken to at the centre (Key Contact).

Step 3: Send the completed form to the address provided. The re-sit fee should be submitted with the re-assessment form. Cheques/postal orders should be made payable to the Amateur Swimming Association, please do not send cash. You must submit the form at least 28 days prior to your chosen re-assessment date. Unfortunately we are unable to process applications outside the required notice period therefore your form will be returned to you if you fail to provide this notice.

Step 4: Look over your course paperwork and ensure you are fully prepared for the exam.

The Awarding Body will dispatch examination materials to the centre only after receipt of the re-assessment form and fee.

If you wish to re-sit the examination at another centre, you must contact your preferred centre to ascertain whether they are willing to provide this service. Guidance notes for Institute of Swimming learners on how to organise a re-assessment.

Please note these guidance notes are for Institute of Swimming learners only.  If you took your original assessment at a non-IoS venue please click here. Re-sit assessment dates have been scheduled by the IoS.
