Details of funding opportunities available in the North East and Yorkshire
Sport England Small Grants Scheme
Who can access it? Any club/voluntary organisation.
Which qualifications does it cover? Variety of courses can be applied for - Level 1, 2 and 3 in any discipline, scUK and running sports, officials, etc.
How much is it for? Depends on what the organisation has applied for, will fund between £300 and £10,000.
How do I apply for it? Via the online application form here. Decision made within six weeks of submission.
The Lloyds TSB Foundation
Who can access it? Registered under-funded charities working to enable disadvantaged or disabled people so that they can play a fuller role in the community.
How do I apply for it? Submit application form available from the website here or via Peter Ellis, Regional Manager North East firstname.lastname@example.org. The Foundation aims to make a decision on all applications within 3 months.
Peter Harrison Foundation - Opportunities through Sport
Who can access it? Applications considered from charities throughout the UK. Preference given to projects that provide skills development and confidence building through sport;sports projects that have a strong training/educational theme;projects that provide sporting equipment and facilities for disabled or disadvantaged people;those that have a high degree of community involvement; and work that engages children and young people at risk of crime, truancy or addiction.
Craven District Council Community Grant Scheme
Who can access it? Not for profit organisations such as swimming clubs and trust swimming pools in Craven District: Skipton, Settle area.
What qualifications does it cover? Levels 1 & 2.
How much is it for? Two levels: Up to £500 and up to £1000. Likely to only fund 40% to 50% to match ASA or NSA coach bursary scheme.
How do I apply for it? Via the Community Grants form on the Craven DC website here. This will then be assessed and presented to the Grant sub committee for a decision.
Scarborough and District Sports Council Grants
Who can access it? Any individual, sports club, sports association or organisation within Scarborough and District (conditions apply).
What qualifications does it cover? Levels 1, 2 and 3 all disciplines. Also CPDs can be funded.
How much is it for? Individual grants are limited to £350 and grants to a club or organisation are limited to £500 per application.
How do I apply for it? Complete an official application form here. Applications may be supported by further information, particularly evidence of match funding from clubs and a written reference from a coach or teacher for an individual. Grant applications are accepted all year round but awarded only in February and August of each year.
Ryedale District Council Grants
How much is it for? Up to £100 towards qualifications.

East Yorkshire ERCAS Grant
Who can access it? Teachers or coaches from swim21 clubs.
What qualifications does it cover? Levels 1, 2 and 3 in all disciplines. Equity, child protection, first aid.
How much is it for? 60% of course cost.
How do I apply? Complete application form available here 4-6 weeks before course start date. Candidates receive funds upon completion of the course.
Tyne & Wear - Sports Unlimited
Who can access it? NGBs and CSN network.
What qualifications does it cover? CPDs if required.
How much is it for? Part of funding for 8-10 aquatic sessions for semi sporty to enhance teachers/coaches quality of delivery.
How do I apply? Apply via County Sports Partnership through NGB or CSN. Candidate is selected then offer of CPD given.
Tyne & Wear - Recruit into Coaching
Who can access it? Any sports unqualified person.
What qualifications does it cover? Level 1 or generic courses.
How much is it for? £250.

Durham - County Durham Foundation
Who can access it? The Foundation administers a number of grant schemes that support sports projects. The Sports Relief Fund will award grants to community groups who are increasing access to sport and exercise for people who face social exclusion and isolation and helping people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives to regain their confidence and self esteem. There are also approx 90 donor funds, several of which support groups in sports projects as well as one scheme which supports young individuals who excel in their chosen field.
How much is it for? On rare occasions donors will award up to £2000 but the average grant is £500.
How do I apply? Groups wishing to apply can either complete an online expression of interest form online here or contact the Foundation on 0191 383 0055.
