Are you excited about the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games?

In the run up to the Games millions of people will be involved in celebratory events across the country, could you be someone who makes an event happen?

Local Leaders is an initiative with an invitation from LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) to take the excitement of London 2012 into your community and create your own Olympic celebrations over the next year.

Who are Local Leaders?

Local Leaders are the nation’s planners and organisers who, with their passion for the London 2012 Games will want to celebrate England’s chance to host the world’s biggest sporting event with their friends, family and local communities.

Local Leaders will promote awareness of the Games within their community and help to arrange celebrations to ensure as many people as possible get to experience the Olympic glow.

If this sounds like you, sign up to be a Local Leader today!

What will I need to be a Local Leader?

You will need passion for the Olympic and Paralympic Games along with an idea of how you want to celebrate. As a Local Leader you can create your own event or get involved in some of the ideas communities across the UK have already suggested.

You could hold an aquatic quiz, a family pool session or have a pool party for all of your friends. If you don’t have an idea of how to celebrate, there is no need to worry!

By registering as a Local Leader you will be provided with ideas as well as hints and tips on how to organise a successful event.

The ASA will also be providing you with new ways each month to help you celebrate in Aquatic style!

How big does my celebration have to be?

You can get everyone you know involved in the celebrations or you could organise something for yourself and three friends. Your celebration could be as large or small as you like, the possibilities are endless so get your creative hats on.

I want to be a Local Leader, where do I sign up?

To become a Local Leader simply visit www.london2012.com/localleaders Sign up today and join thousands of others around the UK to organise events and make the Games Local.

Not only will the ASA be suggesting ways in which you could celebrate, we want to hear all about how you are getting involved and what your community is doing.

The more inventive your ideas are the better! Send details of how you are celebrating along with a photograph to volunteering@swimming.org we will be sharing the most creative ideas.

We want the whole of the UK to get involved and celebrate the Games together. It is the Local Leaders that will make that happen!
