STEP 3– Becoming licensed
Once you have completed your officiating Judge Level 1 it is important that you become licensed; it demonstrates your competence as an official and also tells us that you have up to date officiating knowledge.
Having a license is also helpful to event organisers for when they are selecting their officials. Holding a license tells them that you are qualified to the correct standard and officiating regularly, they will know you are continually putting your skills into practice.
An official’s license costs £10 and lasts for 4 years. To apply for your officials license or for more information visit British Swimming Officials Licensing.
Renewing your officials license
In order to maintain the currency of your license you are required to take continuing professional development courses (CPD). As an official these courses will assist with your development and progression.
The three courses currently available are;
· Contemporary Issues: Officials Awareness Module
· FINA rules update
· Disability: British Swimming Disability Course for Officials
