I started swimming for Torridgeside Swimming Club, North Devon, at the age of four and have been swimming and coaching for the club ever since.
I swam competitively for the club up to western county level. I took over as head coach at 17, and am still in this position seven years later – the club is going from strength to strength.
I was also lucky enough to have the opportunity to carry the Olympic torch in 2012 through my home town of Torrington. I am a Level 2 qualified teach and coach, and in 2011 I set up my own swim school ‘Laura Bennett Academy of Swimming’ which has over 200 swimmers and has been running strong since. I enjoy helping others, as swimming is a huge passion of mine.
