Oliver Hooper - Chair of the National Youth Forum

I am currently a PhD Research Student at Loughborough University, researching within the field of Sport Pedagogy into children’s understandings and misconceptions of health.

Olliver Hooper

I was previously an undergraduate student at Loughborough University and graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science in July 2014.

I was formerly a club swimmer but now take on more of a role as a teacher/coach in the sport. I have completed my UKCC Level 1 and 2 Teaching Aquatics and Coaching Swimming qualifications and in the future would like to complete the UKCC Level 3 Coaching Swimming qualification. I also have ambitions of presenting/tutoring within the sport and hope in the future to deliver the UKCC courses in Teaching Aquatics having already become a Coach Educator with other NGBs.

I have been involved in sport in a number of capacities and have been particularly involved with the Youth Sport Trust (YST), taking on roles at Step in Sport Camps, National Talent Orientation Camps and the UK School Games. I was a member of the YST Steering Group and was selected as one of six young people from across the UK to attend an International Olympic Congress in Olympia, Greece. I was a member of the LOCOG 2012 Youth Diversity Board and took on a numbers of roles in the run and during the Olympic/Paralympic Games, including being privileged enough to run with the Olympic Torch! I am also a member of the Sport England HE Advisory Panel in conjunction with BUCS.

I have a huge passion for the sport and having been involved in another NGB Youth Forum, I know the impact it can have, and that makes me very excited to take on the role of Chair for the ASA Youth Forum!
