The ASA National Summer Championships 2016 takes place this week at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.
The event runs from the 1-5 August, and will see some of the country’s top age group swimmers competing for national honours over the five day event.
Swimmers are split into five age groups for each event, as well as mixed classification events for age group para-swimmers. There are girls and boys events for all races.
Over 1,200 swimmers will take part over the course of the week, with a total of 552 medals up for grabs.
ASA Head of Clubs, Jon Keating, said: “There is such a buzz around swimming at the moment as we approach the Olympic and Paralympic Games, so it is great that our National Championships fall the week before the Games kick off in Rio.
“I am sure that this will inspire our younger club swimmers to get out there and give it their all over the course of the week, and I wish all of the competitors the best of luck.” – Jon Keating
“We should see plenty of new PBs this week, but most of all we should see lots of age group swimmers thoroughly enjoying competing in their sport.”
