Holly Hibbott and Charlie Hutchison were the stand-out perfomers on the second day of the British Gas ASA National Age Group Swimming Championships 2014 as they both claimed double gold.
Hibbott – who already had one gold and two silvers in the 14 Yrs Age Group from the opening day – landed the 100m Butterfly title then anchored Southport’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay quartet to a thrilling victory in the last race of the day.
Ellesmere College Titans swimmer Hutchison won his first NAGS medals in the youngster 11/12 Yrs Age Group, smashing his PB by 25 seconds to win the afternoon’s 1500m Freestyle then returning to the top step of the podium with a PB in the 200m Butterfly.
Other impressive performances came from Bridgend County’s Rebecca Sutton, who sailed under the five minute mark for the first time to win 13 Yrs 400m Individual Medley gold, and City of Leeds’ Layla Black, who landed the 14 Yrs 200m Breaststroke title despite not turning 14 until Saturday.
