The stars are out for Christmas in Sheffield

Celebrate Christmas in Sheffield with a feast of fast short course swimming at the ASA National Winter Meet (25m)

Celebrate Christmas in Sheffield with a feast of fast short course swimming at the ASA National Winter Meet (25m) from 17 – 20 December.

With close to 1000 swimmers heading to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre this Christmas, including a host of star names, the ASA’s inaugural short course meet looks set to provide an exciting four days of racing.

Among those racing for gold are four swimmers who will be flying the flag for Great Britain at next week’s LEN European Short Course Championships in Netanya, Israel.

Double breaststroke World champion and World record holder Adam Peaty will lead the charge in Sheffield, bringing his impressive year to an end at the highlight of the English short course calendar.

The City of Derby swimmer, who was recently named Swimming Performance Athlete of the Year at the ASA Aquatics Awards 2015, will line up at Ponds Forge alongside FINA World Championship teammates Liam Tancock and Fran Halsall.

Tancock and Halsall, who both train at the National Centre, Loughborough, will be looking to qualify for their third consecutive Olympic Games next year and head to Sheffield after a hard block of work in preparation for 2016.

City of Leeds’ Georgia Coates, who took 400m IM silver and 200m IM bronze at the FINA World Junior Championships earlier this year, will race for gold at ASA Winter Meet (25m) following her first major senior international championship in Israel.
