Free Swim Sessions at Big Splash Oxford Swim Sunday
24 January 2012
Four swimming pools across Oxford will be opening their doors to the public on 5 February to offer free swimming activities as part of the Big Splash Oxford Swim Sunday event.
Swimmers of all ages and abilities will have the chance to take part in exciting aquatic sessions, including Big Splash Inflatable Fun, Swimfit sessions, Aqua Zumba and a City of Oxford Swimming Club Gala. Children will be able to play and have photos taken with Trunx, the Big Splash mascot.
The sessions will give everyone a taste of why making a splash for just 30 minutes once a week is such fun, as well as great for fitness and wellbeing.
In addition to swimming, sessions will give locals the chance to experience a range of aquatic based activities including Big Splash mini polo, a mini-version of water polo, and synchronised swimming. Age restrictions apply for some activities, for details contact the swimming pool directly.
Swimmers will also have the opportunity to grab a range of great prizes, with underwater treasure hunts taking place at all four leisure centres, as well as fun challenges that the whole family can get involved in. Prizes include a free family swim pass, one month membership to Blackbird Leys Swimming Pool and a free Big Day party.
The pools taking part are Barton Leisure Centre, Blackbird Leys Swimming Pool, Ferry Leisure Centre and Temple Cowley Pools and Fitness Centre. Activities will begin at 9:30am and run throughout the day, with the final event ending at 6:00pm.
All swimming based activities and general swim sessions are free of charge, however, the leisure centres will also be running their normal timetable with standard charges applicable.
