In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Did you know?

  • Joe is studying for a geography degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.
  • He comes from a rugby league family - his grandfather competitively played for Oldham and Whitehaven.
  • Aside from following rugby, Joe is a Manchester United football fan which can cause friction on match days as his dad is a Manchester City supporter.

Joe's Career

Joe is one of the most recent additions to the British senior team, having made his international debut in Tbilsi, Georgia in 2010. Since joining the squad, he has played against Olympic champions Hungary in two Test matches in Dublin last year as well as world champions Italy in this season's World League qualifiers. He played his first professional season abroad this year, joining British teammate Adam Scholefield at PSVK-Fuszert in the Hungarian National League.
