In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Did you know?

  • Katie was a gymnast for three years before joining a synchronised swimming club when she was 12 years old. Katie still thoroughly enjoys watching gymnastics on the TV.
  • Katie enjoys watching films, TV series and listening to RnB music.
  • Her father Duncan won Commonwealth gold for England in weightlifting at the 1990 Games in Auckland.

Katie's Career

Katie began her synchronised swimming career in 2001 at Bristol Central club. She has gone from strength to strength throughout her synchro career and in 2007 was chosen for the GB senior squad. The senior squad have since moved up the ranks and competed at various levels. As a potential hopeful Katie was selected to experience the Olympic scene back in 2008 where she flew to the BOA holding camp in Macau before watching two synchro events at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She has since become an integral member of the team and has competed at two World Championships in 2009 and 2011, two European Champions Cups (2009 and 2011) and two European Championships (2010 and 2012).
