The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Did you know?

  • Monique loved sports from an early age and represented South Africa aged 11 in gymnastics. A knee injury six years later ended her gymnastics career and so she switched her attention to diving.
  • Monique is coached by her husband Steve Gladding.
  • Monique refuses to watch footage of her 2010 accident, when her head hit the 10m platform, she was knocked unconscious and almost drowned.

Monique's Career

Monique Gladding has been competing at the top level of British Diving since the turn of the century but will make her Olympic debut at London 2012. However, she has built up plenty of experience on the international stage, including competing at four European Championships over the last eight years. Her best international achievement was 10m Synchro bronze with partner Megan Sylvester at the 2010 Euros while she also finished sixth in the 10m Synchro at the 2009 World Championships in Rome. Individual 10m Platform highlights have come this season as Monique finished 10th at the World Cup in London then fifth at the Europeans in Eindhoven.
