In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Did you know?

  • Rob was a competitive swimmer at Cheltenham Swimming Club before coach Martyn Thomas convinced him to give water polo a go when he was 12. A few years later, Rob was playing for Cheltenham first team.
  • Away from the pool, Rob was a useful rugby player before quitting to concentrate on water polo when he was 17 while nowadays he likes to play golf and supports football club Manchester United.
  • He holds Sir Steve Redgrave as his all-time Olympic role model.

Rob's Career

Rob made his senior debut in 2007 and was part of the British team to finish sixth in that season's European B Championships. He finished 12th with the British team at the World University Games in Bangkok the same year before playing a part in the Brits' 2009 European B Championships campaign where they finished fourth. He has played professionally in the competitive Australian and Spanish leagues and has been a key figure in Great Britain's European A and World League campaigns over the past two seasons.
