14th November 2011

Andrew Willis clocked two PBs at the British Universities and College Sport Championships (25m) as he fine-tuned his European Short Course preparation.

The 20-year old – who is set to make his short course international debut in Poland next month – clocked a personal best to scoop bronze in the 200m Breaststroke before repeating the feat twice en route to sixth in the 200m Individual Medley.

Having reached the World Championship final over 50m earlier this year, Willis was one of the favourites for a medal in the 200m Breaststroke and made light work of transferring his long course form to the shorter pool.

Competing for the University of Bath, he eased through the heats as second fastest qualifier before knocking more than two seconds off his personal best to touch in 2:10.06 in the final.

Having qualified second fastest for the 200m Individual Medley final the following day, he broke his personal best from the heats with an effort of 2:03.87.

Willis and the British squad take part in the European Short Course Championships in Poland between 8 – 11 December.
