Gandy secures early season double

Ellen Gandy kicked off her Olympic season in style with double gold at the Queensland State Championships.

The World Championship finalist completed a clean sweep of the 100m and 200m Butterfly titles in Brisbane.

Gandy qualified fastest for the 100m Fly, clocking 59.61 in the heats, before storming to gold in the final in 58.60, ahead of Alice Mills (59.23) and Olympic bronze medallist Jessica Schipper (59.29).

Two days later, the Brit was back in the water again, qualifying first for the 200m Butterfly final in 2:09.69.

And the 20-year old duly scooped her second gold of the meet, winning in 2:09.13 ahead of Schipper (2:10.48) and Amy Smith (2:11.65).
