Early medal for Miley at European Short Course
8th December 2011
Hannah Miley couldn’t hide her joy after lifting her first medal of the 2011 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Poland with 200m Individual Medley bronze.
The Scottish swimmer has a decorated history over 400m Individual Medley but proved she is no pushover in the shorter event, clocking 2:08.34 to secure her medal.
And having repeated her result from the 2009 Championships in Istanbul, Miley admitted to be swimming so fast at this point in the season was an encouraging sign.
"I'm so pleased with that," said Miley. "When I was in Turkey [at the European Short Course Championships 2009] I got bronze so it's nice to do that again.
"I think that's the fastest time I've done in a textile suit so to get it as this time of the season, I'm really happy with how it went.
"I tried to get a little bit of speed there - I'm not really a speed demon but hopefully that's set me up well for the 400 later in the week."
