Silver for Miley in Poland

11th December 2011

Hannah Miley turned on the style to clinch silver in her favourite 400m Individual Medley on the final day of the European Short Course Championships in Poland.

The Scottish swimmer had already scooped 200m Individual Medley bronze and was a constant threat to champion Mireia Belmonte Garcia throughout the 400m final.

Miley eventually touched 1.51 seconds down on the Spaniard in 4:26.06 but insisted the medal had been the ideal way to bring her campaign to a close.

“It's always hard to swim on the last day but I'm so happy with that,” said Miley. “Last year I struggled to beat 2.29 so to get this time is brilliant.

“I knew if Mireia got too far away before the freestyle leg I'd have a struggle but I kept with her.

“I'm not a strong short course swimmer but that will do my long course the world of good.”
