Jamieson hits new heights in Eindhoven
28th November 2011
Michael Jamieson boosted his hopes for the Olympic year with an early season personal best at the Dutch Open in Eindhoven.
The Scot - who finished fifth on his World Championship debut in Shanghai this summer - made light work of the field in the Netherlands, storming clear at the half-way point.
I'm so chuffed with the final tonight - it's been coming for a while.
Jamieson eventually touched home for gold in 2:10.40, slicing 0.02 off his previous best from March's British Gas Swimming Championships 2011 in Manchester.
"So chuffed with the final tonight," said Jamieson on Twitter. "It's been coming for a while.
"Hoping for a big drop soon. My first 'in season' PB in years!"
He also took part in the 100m Breaststroke in Eindhoven, reaching the final before finishing fifth in 1:02.14.
