Clocking up the miles en route to London 2012

30th January 2012

Rob Welbourn’s Paralympic record makes pleasing reading for the Lincolnshire athlete - two Games, two golds, two silvers.

While there's no scoffing at Welbourn's two Paralympic golds in the 34 point 4x100m Freestyle relay, he would dearly love to upgrade his S10 400m Freestyle silvers from Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 to gold at London 2012.

Moving to the British Gas ITC Swansea to work with renowned distance coach Bud McAllister has already paid dividends, with Welbourn clocking a European record of 4:07.05 in 2010 and topping the world rankings with his effort of 4:10.95 last season.

But with Athens champion Benoit Huot and reigining Paralympic champion Andre Brasil snapping at his heels, the Brit knows he can take nothing for granted.

We caught up with Rob and asked him how his third Paralympic season was shaping up.
