Roberto Pavoni struck double gold in his last competition before next month’s European Short Course Championships in Poland.

Competing for Loughborough at the British Universities and College Sport Championships (25m) in Sheffield, the 20-year old clinched the 400m Individual Medley title before a comprehensive gold in the 200m Butterfly.

With the fastest swimmer from the heats declared winner, there was no room for error in the 400m Individual Medley but the World Championship final made sure of gold with a time of 4:14.24.

The following day, Pavoni stepped up a gear, cruising through the 200m Butterfly heats as fastest qualifier before clocking a personal best 1:56.52 to win the final by more than two seconds from Stirling University’s Cameron Brodie.

Pavoni and the British squad take part in the European Short Course Championships in Poland between 8 – 11 December.
