Day five of the 2011 British Gas Swimming Championships in Manchester saw double Commonwealth champion James Goddard hold off a determined challenge from Joe Roebuck to defend his 200m Individual Medley crown.

Roebuck sliced more than a second off his personal best in the final, pushing the Commonwealth champion all the way to the touch in one of the closest races of the week.

Meanwhile, Ellen Gandy and Jemma Lowe both dipped under the 2:07 in the 200m Butterfly to rank first and second in this year's world rankings.
